MARC POLAND

AKA ‘The Analyst'

PRIMARY FUNCTION WITHIN THE TEAM

Logistics, race planning and (American) English translator.  Hot standby as mechanic and training partner.

STAND OUT MOMENT SO FAR

Convincing Joe, whose thinking was clouded by eight days of racing more than 20 hours per day, that the math was still supporting achievement of his race goals

MOST CHALLENGING MOMENT SO FAR

Driving immediately behind Joe as he fell asleep momentarily – still pedaling, but starting to veer off the road.

WHY I DO IT

Joe is the most experienced racer I’ve ever had the privilege to ride with, but beyond that, everyone on the team is incredibly knowledgeable and dedicated.  I feel honored to be a part of it and I learn from each teammate at every event.

TJB HAS TAUGHT ME

When a person or team is fully committed to a goal, the reserves of energy available are ten times what we think.

FAVOURITE JOEism

No short phrase personifies Joe’s relationship with the world around him when racing.  While most racers seek to ‘own the road’, Joe ‘shares the road’ with fellow racers, crews, and even those naïve to what they are witnessing.

IN 3 WORDS – YOUR TJB EXPERIENCE

Professionalism, focus & teamwork

DID YOU KNOW

Marc is one of only three ever to fly a helicopter under human power and, at 55, was the oldest pilot of any human-powered aircraft

MARC ACCORDING TO JOE

Marc is my ‘brother from another mother’.  I love riding, especially climbing big hills, with Marc.
